Cordycep Sinensis

Cordyceps(Cordyceps sinensis) belong to the species of ascomycetes fungi. Cordyceps grows in the mountains of Tibet at the height of about 4 km. If in a warm season a spore of cordyceps penetrates into larva of one of Lepidoptera types (hepialide), then after winter is over and the vegetation begins, the spore transforms into a root.Out of this root a fungus body grows, looking as a blade of grass. In spring a developing fungus uses larva's nutrients for its growth but later on interlacing with the rootage of the herbs growing nearby, uses their nutrients as well. The shortage of oxygen in high mountain conditions, low air terperature, its fluctions and also its connection with space make cordyceps stronger and powder-intensive.

Cordyceps sinensis was originally used exclusively by the court of the Chinese emperors for restoring energy, promoting longevity and improving the quality of life.

Ten thousand feet up on the mountain slopes of western China, native Tibetans methodically search out one of the most unique and treasured herbs in traditional Chinese medicine. Cordyceps sinensis is one of the most valued and potent natural products in all of Chinese medicine. It has long been used as a tonic for longevity, endurance and vitality for both men and women. It is a very rare mushroom found in the high-attitude plateaus of China and Tibet. Cordyceps sinensis has received little attention in the Western world. However, Chinese athletes who used Cordyceps sinensis in their athletic training program surprised everyone recently when they broke numerous world records and attributed their performance in part to daily supplementation with Cordyceps.

The rare Cordyceps sinensis mushroom is small - usually less than an inch high - and the annual harvest worldwide is less than 660 lbs. There are more than 300 kinds of Cordyceps sinensis - but none compare to the Cordyceps sinensis found in Tibet. The Tibetan Plateau, which is approximately 15,000 feet above sea level, is home to some of the purest and highest-quality plants and herbs in the world. Few plants survive in this environment - with high winds and snow, intensive sunlight, extreme temperature fluctuations and low oxygen levels - but the plants that do survive, are extremely potent. Research shows that Cordyceps is beneficial for the heart, liver and immune system etc.

  1. Heart disease: In clinical studies significant improvements were found in stroke volume, heartbeat, cardiac output etc. In the Cordyceps group vs. The control group.
  2. Cholesterol: Cordyceps reduces the amount of "bad" LDL cholesterol and increases the amount "good" HDL cholesterol. In one study, Cordyceps lowered total cholesterol levels by over 17 percent.
  3. Liver disease: Cordyceps can improve symptoms and liver-cell structures dramatically. Cirrhosis cells disappeared in 70 percent of the patients.
  4. Sexual dysfunction for men: Cordyceps can benefit many men who have problems involving sexual function.
  5. Disorder of the immune system: Cordyceps appears to be one of the most adaptive immunomodulators.
